First it was a farm, then a family-run farmhouse: Canales is always been a meeting place, tradition and hospitality. The history of this structure is strictly linked to the one of the Nieddu family, who have lived for four generations on this piece of land that overlooks Lake Cedrino, in the territory of Dorgali.
In 2000, the 70 hectares exclusively used for reiring livestock were rethought: from a large stony ground to a farmhouse overlooking Lake Cedrino, where you can enjoy a holiday in close contact with nature in the company of Nanni, Lina, Anna, Francesco and Daniela.

Rooms
Intimate, simple, traditional, our rooms are strictly linked with nature.
The Canales farmhouse is our home, which is why we constantly take care of our facility and the surrounding area. In 2019 we commissioned a project that aimed to rearranging the accesses and social spaces. The project by architects Davide Fancello, Agnese Mavuli and Roberto Sanna included the construction of an external stone carpet that aims to reinterpret the geological complexity of the territory of Dorgali through a geometric mosaic consisting of 3 different types of local stones: limestone, basalt and granite.
This material path ends up in the west-facing viewpoint on the lake, the Supramonte massif and the Nuragic village of Tiscali, all elements with a very strong environmental and community value. The view is framed by a micro architecture called “Ventana” a Sardinian word that literally means “window”. The viewpoint, composed of an oxidized steel frame, leans on a limestone boulder, designed and built as an open abstract body, meant to give space to light and its dynamic games at different times of the day. This small architecture is a gift to our home, but it is also a gift for all our visitors that will have the opportunity to take a special moment, sit and contemplate the landscape, framing its beauty.
The project of our "Ventana" was mentioned and published in the occasion of the Italian Architect and Young Talent of Architecture Award 2019 organized by the National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators which took place at the Venice Biennale on November 15, 2019. A second mention came on the occasion of the Inarchitecture 2020 award organized by the National Institute of Architecture.
